Simi Valley police are investigating multiple smash-and-grab commercial burglaries reported early Saturday.

 

Police are offering businesses several tips on how to prevent burglaries after hours. Steve Byerly

 

The first burglary took place around 1:30 a.m. at Old Susana Cafe, 1555 Kuehner Drive. Police arrived and found burglars had broken the glass of the front door, entered the restaurant and stolen an undisclosed amount of money.

 

Soon after, another burglary was reported after someone overheard an alarm at Chili’s, 25 W. Cochran St. The witness, a security guard at a nearby Costco, saw two people flee on foot, enter an unknown vehicle and drive away east on Cochran. Police said the burglars had smashed a large window and taken an undisclosed amount of cash.

 

A third commercial burglary was reported around 4:30 a.m. at Chi-Chi’s Pizza, 5145 E. Los Angeles Ave. An employee arrived to find a window had been smashed and an undisclosed amount of cash had been taken out of the register.

 

A window had been smashed at a Baskin-Robbins next door, although authorities could not determine that anything had been stolen.
